Economics - Mcost Essay - 713 Words
A retail dry cleaning store cleans two-piece suits for $12 each. Its patrons are individual walk-ins. There are several similar dry cleaners in the city and this firm offers no special services. The firm can clean up to 1,000 suits per week. It has fixed costs of $3,500 per week (amortization on its equipment, rent, taxes, and salaries) plus a cost of $4 per suit for chemicals, packaging materials, order processing, and incidentals. Volume per week has been fairly constant at 600 suits. A firm that operates three hotels in the city is asking the store to clean 150 two-piece staff uniforms per week at a price of $6.75 per suit. The process would be the same as the store uses on suits. Because there are several dry cleaning storesâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Why or why not? The special job still should be accepted even if the hotel chain is only willing to pay $4.25 per uniform. As mentioned previously, the price at $4.25 is still greater than the Marginal Cost at $4.00 and therefore it is still profitable for the firm to continue and make the uniform. The increase in revenue would be $637.50 ($4.25*150), whereas the increase in costs would only be $600 ($400*150). Therefore, even though the $4.25 is far below the $12.00 market price and the average total cost of $8.67, it is still a profitable order. Calculation below: =$4.25 =$4.00 =$8.67 3. Suppose the hotel chain is willing to negotiate the price. When you enter the negotiations, what is the lowest price you are willing to accept (i.e., your reservation price)? (Of course, you will not announce this price to the other party.) Since this firm is in a perfectly competitive market, they must charge the same price in the industry to be competitive. Since they have excessive capacity of up to 400 suits above their normal sales, the incremental job allows them to negotiate a price anywhere revenue is greater than the variable cost per shirt. The lowest price that the dry cleaning service should accept is the point where the Market Price=Marginal Cost =Marginal Revenue, which is $4.00 per uniform. This is only the case because the dry cleaning service has the excess capacity and

Australian Constrict Law Sole Trader
Question: Discuss about the Australian Constrict Law of Sole Trader. Answer: Assignment A Care Hire Business was carried on by Steve as a sole trader. The business was not run as a corporation. Issue Whether Tom can sue Steve for the damages sustained by him in the form of loses $ 5000 per day in profits? Law Since the relationship that existed amid Steve and Tom is commercial in nature thus the law under Competition and Consumer Act 2010 is applicable. Section 18 of the Act submits that when any person when is engaged in any trade or commerce activity then he must not undertake activities that are deceptive or misleading in nature or is likely to do the same. If any person is found to be contravention of section 18 of the Act then he is liable to pay remedies to the aggrieved party in the form of damages or termination of contract. The scope of section 18 of the Act is found in Google Inc v ACCC (2013). (Clark J 2016) In common law, if any person makes a misrepresentation (a statement of fact) and induces the other person to establish contract with him, then such contract is suffered by misrepresentation and the aggrieved party has right to terminate the contract and claim damages. (The Law HandBook 2016) Application Tom seeks information from Steve before making contract with him. He specifically submitted that he needs a truck which can carry 10 tons of cargo. Steve induces Tom by stating that the truck provided by him can carry 12 tons of cargo. He misrepresented Tom and his conduct was deceptive and misleading in nature. Thus, Tom has every right to sue Steve. Conclusion Tom can sue Steve for misrepresentation and deception and can terminate the contract and claim damages and the losses so sustained by him. Issue whether there exist a valid contract amid Pamela and Steve? Law A contract is an agreement which can be enforced by law only when it is made by the compilation of all ingredients, such as, offer, acceptance, consideration and intention. An offer is the intention of the offeror to an offeree which he expects to be confirmed by such an offeree and is called acceptance. Offer and acceptance makes an agreement. (Clark J 2016) An agreement must be supported by some benefit or gain which is exchanged amid the parties for the promises so fulfilled by them. This benefit is consideration in law. A consideration is valid only when it is made for the promises yet to be performed. There is no scope of past consideration in the contract law of Australia and is held in Roscorla v Thomas (1842). (Moles R 1998) Application Now, Pamela was performing the action of watering in the garden of Steve on her own will. There was nothing from Steve sides to compel Pamela to do the same. It was later that Steve promised Pamela that he will provide her with his act against the actions that were taken by her. But, the promise was made after the action was performed by Pamela. Thus, the consideration promised by Steve was past in nature. Conclusion Thus, Pamela cannot sue Steve and there is no contract amid the two as the consideration was past and is invalid in nature. Issues Whether Danny can sue Steve for breach of contract? Law In the law of contract, when all contract essentials are fulfilled by the offeror and the offeree then a valid contract exist amid the two. However, any valid contract can cease to exist under various situations, such as, by performance, by frustration, by agreement, by law, etc. (FindLaw 2016) One of the ground upon which a contract comes to an end is frustration. Frustration occurs when the contract ends because of some supervening event which is not in control of the parties Taylor v Caldwell(1863) (Clark J 2016). Some of the instances under which a contract is terminated on account of frustration are natural disaster, destruction of matter, war, death of the person, incapacity, etc. (Jaani 2016) Application A contract was made amid Danny and Steve wherein Steve has to provide a car to Dannay. However he was not aware while making the contract that the car was already destroyed. Thus, the subject matter of contract was not in existence when the contract was made and thus the contract was void on account of frustration. Conclusion Hence, Danny cannot sue Steve as the contract was already not valid and is terminated on the ground of frustration. Issues Whether Steve is bound by the contract made by him with Trisha? Law The two most important elements in the law of contract are offer and acceptance. An offer is the communication which is made by an offeror to an offeree under which he communicates his desires and expects an approval of the same (Gibson v Manchester City Council - CA (1978). When the offeree after understating the offer made to him accepts the same without any variations then such confirmation is called acceptance Brogden v Metropolitan Railway Co. (1877). In order to make a valid acceptance it is necessary that it must confirm the exact terms of the offer and must not bring any variation to the same. Also, an acceptance is only complete when it is communicated to an offeror (Powell v Lee (1908). (The Law Teacher 2016) However, when an acceptance is made to an offer which was never intended by an offeree then such kinds of acceptances are not valid as the same were never intended by the offeree and is held in R v Clarke(1927). Knowledge of offer is not sufficient to make a valid acceptance but the offer must intent to make an acceptance in order to make such an acceptance valid and legal in law. Application Now, Trisha has made an offer to Steve which was not accepted by him initially. Under mistake he sends his confirmation to the offer made by Trisha. But, the acceptance made by Steve was under mistake and he never intended to abide by the same. Thus, such acceptance has no valid in law and is suffered by mistake an dos thus not enforceable in law. Conclusion So Trisha cannot force Steve to bind by the contract. Parental Estrangement Essays - Family, Parenting, Human Development
Parental Estrangement Estranged children The difference between an estranged child and an alienated child is that an estranged child has grown apart from the parent for reasons that are, to be blunt, reasonable, and realistic. An estranged child is either absolutely ambivalent about the other parent or enraged by the other parent. These feelings are, however, justified by the child's experience of the separation or by the child's experience of that parent. A parent who leaves the family home, enters a new relationship, and neglects time with their children and dismisses the harm done to their children is likely to become "estranged" from them. It is fair to say that no one responds positively to poor treatment, least of all children. Estrangement results from a parent behaving badly toward his/her children which, in return causes the children to cut off contact. It isn't uncommon for a parent who is estranged from his/her children to blame the other parent of parental alienation. It is easier to blame others for bad behaviour than to accept and acknowledge bad behaviour. When estrangement occurs, the justification is usually very understandable, troubling, and valid. The departing grown child often has been very badly psychologically emotionally damaged in the relationship. Here are some of the most common root problems why parental estrangement occurs. Divorce: Following a divorce, some children reject one parent, limit contact, or show extreme reluctance to be with the parent. Remarriage: Parent's remarriage may also cause tension. It can provoke or exacerbate unwarranted rejection. Lack of routine: If there is no routine or schedule in place the child may feel anxious, children need routines to help them feel safe. Personality Disorders: Many parents are difficult or overbearing, but some parents are too toxic to be around especially narcissist parents. They don't see their own behaviour as playing a role in the problem; they feel entitled to behave badly with no repercussions. Intolerance: children are going to make decisions that parents may not necessarily agree with. Parental estrangement occurs when parents fail to understand their children, never willing to look at situation from their children's point of view. Constant humiliation before others: Parents unaware/intentionally made their children to feel that s/he is good for nothing'; there is no regard for his/her dignity and sentiments. Priorities and Time. These are people who go weeks at a time without contacting their children because they are wrapped up in their career life. They don't understand why their children aren't waiting with arms wide open when they do find time to fit them into their schedule. Unresolved conflicts. Unhealthy conflict management create a basis for conflict to occur again. Recurring family arguments during significant holidays could deteriorate parents-child relationships leading to minimal contacts in the future. Witnessing violence committed by that parent against the other parent Being the victim of abuse from that parent The parent's persistently immature and self-centred behaviour The parent's unduly rigid and restrictive parenting style The parent's own psychological or psychiatric issues. Behaviours Common to an Estranged Parent: The parent who is estranged from a child due to his/her own bad treatment of the child has a "wait and see" attitude. They don't pursue a relationship with the child because in their mind the child is the one responsible for mending the relationship. The estranged parent will find it hard or impossible to view the situation from their child's perspective. They don't see their own behaviour as playing a role in the problem; they feel entitled to behave badly with no repercussions. These parents won't commit to a routine to see their child, they fit the child in when they have spare time rather fit their life around the child. These are people who go weeks at a time without contacting their children because they are wrapped up in a new relationship, focusing more on their career, spending time with the other man/woman or busy building a new life. They don't understand why their children aren't waiting with open arms when they do find time to fit them into their schedule. A checklist for parents when thinking about their estranged child: Have you asked your child what they honestly feel is the problem? Are you really listening to what my child is telling you? Is there a kernel of truth to any of what your child feels is wrong in your

How to Master the German Articles-Part I
How to Master the German Articles-Part I The German articles are honestly spoken a pain in the neck as they do not make any sense nor do they follow any logic. Unfortunately they are important for anyone who aims at speaking correct German. But thereââ¬â¢s hope. There are two simple ways to deal with them almost effortlessly. This article will show you a quick and dirty way to recognize the gender of a German noun even if you dont understand its meaning yet. The second technique you will find in this article. The first is base upon the fact that there are indeed a few signals that give away a nouns gender. The endings -ig or -ling e.g. are always masculine, and so are -or, -ismus and the majority of nouns ending in -er. The problem is that those five endings are as abstract and meaningless as the articles themselves and therefore are still pretty difficult to remember and to apply.à The best way to deal with these article-signals is to organise them in the following way: der ig-ling-or-ismuser which we would read like a single word: der iglingorismuserà Itââ¬â¢s still abstract but now we only have to deal with one abstract information -iglingorismuser- instead of five (-ig, -ling, -or, -ismus, -er). Our new word-creation also has a melody that makes it easier to remember.à Try it. Read it out loud a few times and try to recite it simply from your memory until you know it by heart. It took me a day of occasional recital and I still am able to recall it in an instant.à Of course there are also such signals for neuter and feminine nouns. Combined to mnemonic words they look like this: das Tum-chen-ma-ment-um-leinnis die Heit-ung-keit-ei-schaft-ion-ie-tt-ikure Practice them until you can recite them in a second or less so that you can focus on meaning instead on grammar when speaking. A friend of mine has written a little song to help learners like you to master them quickly. Make sure to check it out. There are also many good tips on how to learn abstract information in general in this lovely article. You might have noted the plus sign () in front of some endings above. That simply means that those endings are not 100% reliable regarding their signal. But they are mostly indicating the gender above. You can find some exceptions here. The beauty of this technique lies in its efficiency as you will be able to identify a nounââ¬â¢s gender even without knowing what that noun means. The word ââ¬Å¾Einberufungââ¬Å" e.g. will most certainly be unknown to most of you but you will recognize its ending -ung easily and therefore know that it is of feminine gender. By the way it means ââ¬Å¾draftââ¬Å" into military service. Why donââ¬â¢t you test your current knowledge of the articles with the following exercise before you practice the three lovely mnemonic words above for some time and then come back to this article and test your new skill? Like this you will have a before-after comparison and therefore a visual feedback for what you have learned with help of this article.à Test of your current article-recognition skills. Cover the text above so that you wonââ¬â¢t be tempted to peek. What gender do the following German nouns have? You can write either der, das, die or simply (m)asculine, (n)euter or (f)eminine. à Test your knowledge of the German Articles Schmetterling (butterfly)Abteilung (department)Nation (nation)Autor (author)Psychologie (psychology)Wachstum (growth)Mdchen (girl)Eimer (bucket)Nase (nose)Polizei (police)Mongolei (Mongolia)Kà ¶ter (scoundrel)Kommunismus (communism)Frulein (Miss)Natur (nature)Fabrik (plant)Oktober (October)Frà ¼hling (spring)Bà ¼rschchen (stripling/laddie)Gesellschaft (society)Struktur (structure)Quentchen (grain)Management (management)Logik (logic)Museum (museum)Information (information)Minute (minute)Kà ¶rper (body)Wohnung (flat)Feigling (coward)September (September)Meister (master)Ewigkeit (eternity) The answers you will find on the next page, so maybe copy these words into a word document or on a piece of paper to be able to easily correct your answers. Feel free to let me know your before/after results and what you think of this technique.à One last note: This technique does not cover all possible article signals but the most common ones. And it also does not help you with all those nouns that simply do not have any signal-ending yet there is also a few categories that usually stick to one gender, like e.g. alcoholic beverages that are mostly masculine (e.g. der Wein) or motorcycle bands that are exclusively feminine (e.g. die Harley Davidson) and the second technique is coming soon. Stay tuned and thanks for reading. Here now the answers to the exercise on the last page: der Schmetterling (butterfly)die Abteilung (department)die Nation (nation)der Autor (author)die Psychologie (psychology)das Wachstum (growth)das Mdchen (girl)der Eimer (bucket)die Nase (nose)die Polizei (police)die Mongolei (Mongolia)der Kà ¶ter (scoundrel)der Kommunismus (communism)das Frulein (Miss)die Natur (nature)die Fabrik (plant)der Oktober (October)der Frà ¼hling (spring)das Bà ¼rschchen (stripling/laddie)die Gesellschaft (society)die Struktur (structure)das Quentchen (grain)das Management (management)die Logik (logic)das Museum (museum)die Information (information)die Minute (minute)der Kà ¶rper (body)die Wohnung (flat)der Feigling (coward)September (September)der Meister (master)die Ewigkeit (eternity) à How many have you had correct? How LinkedIn Networks You like a Pro
How LinkedIn Networks You like a Pro Recently I needed to build momentum as a certified SEO copywriter. Enter LinkedIn, a highly undervalued networking resource for writers, and suddenly, I had a new strategy for landing writing gigs. The types of writing gigs one reaches for on LinkedIn can be typically found under ââ¬Å"search jobâ⬠tab where you also enter your location. There is a plethora of niche driven writing and editor jobs which companies and agencies pay big bucks to advertise. Such gigs include technical, romance, email marketing writer, B2B/B2C, freelance, copywriting, digital content, SEO writers, among many others. But consider also using LinkedIn to network with potential people who may need your services. For example, if youââ¬â¢re an SEO content writer, you might want to network with CEOs of SEO agencies. Or if you are a freelance writer, you might want to connect with editors or publishers. There are two ways to leverage LinkedIn as a professional. The first is optimizing your LinkedIn profile and the second is networking. Be Keyword Friendlyà Just like on any social media site, your prospect has just a few seconds to size you up. There are two prime real estates on LinkedIn: Your title and your profile. 1) A professional title that spells out your focus or niche. à Keywords help you build professional credibility. They are also used 2) A strong profile describing how you help clients. Using a bit of sales copy helped me restructure my profile so itââ¬â¢s not about me but what I can do for the client. If your prospect is a hiring manager representing clients, what are your clientââ¬â¢s pain points? Increase Personal Outreach The more people you know on LinkedIn, the higher the chances your profile will be seen Adjust Your Profile Settings Once you increase your networking pool, start making those direct contacts. Leverage your network When a prospect views my profile, I immediately follow up with this short but sweet note: Hey, Prospect X, I noticed you were looking at my profile. I was just wondering if you needed marketing, writing, or any SEO support. If so, Iââ¬â¢d be happy to hop on a call and talk with you. Thanks! There you goâ⬠¦nothing too scary! Post Regularly Finally, be sure to post regularly. No-one wants to hop on your LinkedIn profile only to find that the last time youââ¬â¢ve posted was six months ago. The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program Research Paper
The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program - Research Paper Example This approach will result in a higher production rate thereby satisfying the both the local and international demand. Currently the company has about 600 workers doing assembly work on the floor and the number is expected to increase to 3,500 when the production of the F-35 jet fighter hits full throttle. There will be three shifts a day and approximately one aircraft will be complete per working day. As the plane moves through the assembly line there are various workstations to cater for different needs of the variants of the aircraft. With this kind of strategy the company plans to make around 130 planes in the early stages of production as it prepares for a high rate phase in later years (Finn, 2013). For a while the production of the F-35 struggled to meet its required target numbers. This however changed in 2013 as everything changed for the better. It was then that progress in flight tests improved and the technical risks that were there before overcame. The production program was able to surpass 10,000 flight hours in September of 2013, the same amount which had been achieved in the previous years. Overall around 8,000 thousand tests have been performed and the marine variant has achieved 500 successful vertical landings (Von, 2013). Such landings proved the capability of the aircraft to land in areas with no landing strips. Through this the program was able to evaluate whether the desired performance goals had been achieved. The success of this tests led to increase in production of the aircraft from 11 planes in 2011 to 30 in 2012 and finally 36 in 2013.By November 2014 a total of 115 F-35ââ¬â¢s had been produced. This can also be accredited to the fact that Lockheed Mar tin, the Corporation making the jet fighter adopted the automated moving line assembly system for production. With this increased production numbers the unit price for each aircraft witnessed a great drop. The drop is so big that the
